SMATB & piano (c. 6:00)

May Swenson’s poem, Earth Your Dancing Place, sang to me from the very moment I encountered it and I realized there was much music to discover in these words. Swenson’s unique, rich use of language paints a vivid picture of the earth as our dancing place, carpeted with sunlight. A place where all of creation is our partner in the dance of life. Where one's proper mode of being is rhythmic, spontaneous, liberated, and filled with joy. All creatures, large and small, are invited to join in this communion of motion.

This piece was written for the Bemidji Choir and premiered by the ensemble during their regional tour in March 2025.
